Annual Pops at the Pavilion Set at ASU
Angelo State University’s Chamber Singers and Vocal Ensemble will present the seventh annual Pops at the Pavilion, “All That Jazz!,” at 7:30 p.m. on April 21 at the University Pavilion on South Van Buren Street near the high-rise residence halls.
The community favorite event is sponsored by the University Center Program Council and Arts at ASU. The concert features a casual outdoor setting with a song and dance format and complimentary refreshments to combine for an evening of family friendly entertainment that is open free to the public.
Many jazz favorites from the 1920s through the 1960s are on this year’s program, including medleys by Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington and Cole Porter. Additional selections by George Gershwin, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Henry Mancini and Louis Prima are also planned for the evening.
The ASU groups will be joined in the concert for the sixth time by Lee Middle School’s show choirs, Rebel Rage and Company. Their unique interpretations of music by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer will add variety to the evening.
The concert will also be broadcast on KCSA radio, 95.7 FM.
