ASU Club Caf to Host Stand-Up Comic
Minneapolis stand-up comedian Richie Holliday will be the featured performer for the next installment of Angelo State University’s Club Caf coffeehouse entertainment series on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.
Holliday will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center. Admission is $1 and audience members will receive a free Club Caf coffee mug. Coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate, cookies, brownies and other refreshments will be served.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Holliday utilizes components of his philosophy degree and observations from daily life in his act.
He also incorporates props, such as a megaphone and a letter-and-number learning toy, to hilarious ends while performing mostly for college audiences across the country during the long semesters. He also performs at comedy clubs, mainly during the summer months.
“I found a megaphone that changes your voice at the Disney Store and started playing with it,” Holliday said. “They asked me to leave, so I bought it and took it with me. Now, it’s in my act along with a couple of other toys I play with onstage. I also do things with music, very silly, very physical things.”
Holliday will be making his first trip to Texas for the ASU show, but it won’t be his first time in the southern United States. He grew up in North Carolina and moved to Minneapolis five years ago after receiving his degree at Wisconsin.
