ASU Sheep Showing Team Dominates Fort Worth

Angelo State University’s Livestock Show Team brought home a host of honors from the Fort Worth Livestock Show this past weekend, including four first-place finishes, the Reserve Champion Ram and the Champion Flock.

Showing 12 Rambouillet sheep in the Open Breed Sheep Show, the ASU team took first place in the Aged Rams, Yearling Rams, Pair of Ram Lambs and Pair of Ewe Lambs categories. They also placed second in Ram Lambs, Aged Ewes, Yearling Ewes and Ewe Lambs, adding third-place ribbons in Yearling Rams and Ram Lambs. The ASU Champion Flock was made up of one ram, one aged ewe, one yearling ewe and two ewe lambs.

ASU team members are graduate student Thomas Epting and undergraduates Jerred Griffith, Casey Grounds, Lura Hayes and Tiffany Kennemer.

Next up for the team are the San Antonio Livestock Show Feb. 9-10 and the San Angelo Livestock Show Feb. 22.
