ASU Freshman Receives National MS Scholarship

Brittany Lombrana, a Christoval High School graduate entering Angelo State University this fall, has been named winner of a $1,000 scholarship from the Mary J. Szczepanski “Never Give Up” Scholarship Foundation in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Lombrana is the first student outside of Michigan to receive the foundation’s scholarship, which went national this year after issuing regional scholarships the past nine years.

Rick Szczepanski, foundation director, said Lombrana won the scholarship awarded to high school seniors who raise funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis after she organized three fundraisers for MS.

“As our most creative and enthusiastic student ever in our nine years,” Szczepanski said, “Brittany will receive $1,000 toward college expenses at ASU.”

Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, affecting mostly young adults, in which the central nervous system comes under attack from the body’s immune system.
