ASU to Host Student Writers Festivals
Local and area grade school and middle school students will have the chance to improve their writing skills by attending Angelo State University’s Pearl of the Concho Writing Project Young Writers Festival and Teen Writers Festival later this summer on the ASU campus.
The Young Writers Festival will run from July 6-17 and is open to students who will be in grades 3-5 this fall. The Teen Writers Festival is open to students who will be in grades 6-8 this fall and will run from July 20-31.
The festivals will both be held in the ASU Carr Education-Fine Arts building, 2602 Dena Drive. Sessions will run Monday-Friday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. during each of the two-week periods. Tuition for the festivals is $200 per person, which includes all supplies, a book and a writing anthology featuring published work from all campers at the festival.
The goal of the festivals is to help students of all writing skill levels to become more confident in their writing, regardless of their proficiency, and to develop an appreciation of others’ writing.
