ASU Wind Ensemble Invites Music Lovers to ‘Paradise’

The Angelo State University Wind Ensemble will present “Paradise,” in concert at 3 p.m. March 8, in the ASU Auditorium, 2601 W. Avenue N.

The title piece and finale, “Paradise Under the Shadow of Swords” is by Rosano Gallante. Other pieces include “Lauds” by Ron Nelson, “Symphony No. 1” by Richard Saucedo and “Romanza” by James Barnes.

Dr. Daniel McCloud, Wind Ensemble conductor, said, “Those pieces have a certain breathtaking beauty about them while being full of energy and life.”

McCloud said those works will be offset by “Symphonic Movement” by Vaclav Nelhybel.

“In stark contrast to the rest of the program is ‘Symphonic Movement,’ a highly intense work that has become a staple in the wind band repertoire,” McCloud said.

The concert is open free to the public.
