ASU Accepting Applications for First Generation Scholarships
High school students interested in attending Angelo State University and whose parents have not completed a college degree are invited to apply for scholarships awarded by the ASU First Generation Scholarship Program.
The program, which grants the largest individual scholarship amounts on campus, was established to provide additional assistance to students who would be the first in their families to complete a two-year or four-year college degree.
Four $7,000 academic scholarships are awarded each year and include all in-state tuition and fees during the fall and spring semesters. First Generation Scholarships may be renewed for up to four continuous years, provided recipients maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average, complete a minimum of 12 semester credit hours each semester and demonstrate exemplary behavior.
To be eligible to apply for a First Generation Scholarship, students should: 1) be a first generation student; 2) be a 2009 high school graduate attending ASU in the fall semester; 3) have scored a minimum 16 ACT or 760 SAT; 4) have graduated in the top 25 percent of their graduating class; and 5) have not received an ASU Carr Academic Scholarship. The priority deadline to submit an application is April 1. Applications may be considered after the priority deadline if funds are available.
