Angelo State ROTC to Host High School Drill Meet

Angelo State University’s Air Force ROTC Det. 847 will host its annual high school JROTC Drill Meet on Saturday, March 7, next to the ASU Rassman Building, 2222 Dena Drive.

About 125 junior ROTC students from 11 West Texas high schools will compete in various events starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Events include armed and unarmed regulation, exhibition and inspection drills, individual drills, tandem drills and color guard.

Activities will also include a demonstration by the bomb squad from Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene at noon, the Warrior Fitness Challenge at 3 p.m. and the awards ceremony at 4 p.m.

In addition to competing in the various contests, the visiting high school students will also get to tour the campus, including the ROTC detachment facilities, and interact with the college cadets.

All of the Drill Meet contests and activities are open free for public viewing. For more information, call the ASU ROTC office at 942-2036.
