Music Educators Set for ASU Music Symposium

Angelo State University music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia will host the 2009 ASU Music Symposium with music educators from around Texas serving as panelists.

The March 25-26 symposium on music education will be presented in the Eldon U. Black Recital Hall in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, 2602 Dena Drive. The symposium is open free to the public.

Panelists include Cindy Bulloch, band director at Nimitz Junior High School in Odessa; Dennis Hopkins, former administrative supervisor of fine arts for the Austin Independent School District; Dr. Jacque Henninger, professor of music education at the University of Texas at Austin; and Harris Brinson, director of bands emeritus at Angelo State University.

The first session, from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, will introduce the panelists. The second session on Thursday, March 26, will address issues in music education. Both sessions will be followed by an audience question and answer sequence.
