World-Class Triathlete to Speak at ASUFit Luncheon
Top-flight triathlete and marathoner Desiree Ficker will speak about maintaining a healthy lifestyle on April 17 during Angelo State University’s ASUFit Brown Bag luncheon.
The presentation is open free to the public and will be held at noon in the Houston Harte University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.
The former high school track and cross country coach finished second in the 2006 Ironman World Championships and was invited to compete in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials marathon qualifier.
A former Duathlete of the Year, Ficker was also a resident team member at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. She speaks to schools and communities about healthy habits, nutrition, and exercise.
The presentation is part of ASU’s fitness and wellness initiative launched in September of 2008. ASU President Joseph C. Rallo said the ASUFit program is designed to encourage healthy lifestyle habits.
“By increasing awareness and providing education and support to our employees,” Rallo said, “we become partners in fitness and wellness activities. I strongly urge all members of the ASU community to take an active role in cultivating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
