ASU University Center Program Council Members Win Regional Awards
Angelo State University students representing the University Center Program Council (UCPC) won three first place awards in graphics competitions and other honors during a regional conference Oct. 22-25 in Arlington.
The ASU group won top prizes for midsize institutions in the multi-colored publication, newspaper print publication and in the campaign categories. In addition, Recreation Chair Elizabeth Santos was named the Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer and the group scored 100 percent in Volunteer Service and Fundraising. The fundraising efforts help pay for scholarships awarded through the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) Foundation.
The UCPC group also won “Best Seat in the House,” for their performance showcases in three of six contests against more than 20 universities.
While at the conference, the UCPC group participated in activities designed to enhance leadership qualities and campus programming knowledge, said UCPC Vice President for Marketing Lainee Fagafa. Among the activities were educational sessions, showcases to preview campus programming possibilities and campus marketplace, where they talked and negotiated with agents and entertainers. They also saw networking programs and a graduate school fair for students interested in pursuing advanced degrees.
