Distinguished Artist to Exhibit Works at Angelo State
Mixed media paintings and sculptures by San Angelo native Jim Gill will be on public display in Angelo State University’s Art Gallery Oct. 7-Nov. 6 in Room 193 of the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held Friday, Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m. Gill will then give a public talk from 7-9 p.m. in the Eldon Black Recital Hall, also in the EFA Building.
Gill’s exhibition will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both the exhibit and the lecture are open free to the public.
Gill is a recognized leader in the arts and his works have been collected by many leading museums in America, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Chicago Art Institute and the National Gallery. His exhibition will include works that reflect his lifelong interest in producing images of popular culture and social issues.
