Horn Player to Present Master Class at ASU
Lucy Dawson, a French horn musician and instructor from Abilene, will give a master class on the horn Monday, Oct. 26, at Angelo State University.
The 1 p.m. class, sponsored by the ASU Department of Art and Music, is open free to the public in the Instrumental Rehearsal Facility of the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
Dawson performs with the Key City Brass Quintet and the Abilene Chamber Players. She is also a freelance musician with the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra and the Abilene Opera Orchestra. The Wisconsin native has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony, the Milwaukee Opera Orchestra, the Milwaukee Brass Quintet and the new music group, Present Music.
During a study-abroad year in Germany, Dawson played with the University Orchestra in Bonn and studied under Erich Penzel and David Brian in Cologne, Germany. After moving to Texas, Dawson played fourth horn with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. She instructs students in Abilene at both McMurry University and Abilene Christian University.
