ASU Modern Languages Department to Sponsor Conversations

The Angelo State University Modern Languages Department will host informal conversations in French, German, Russian and Spanish beginning Nov. 2 for community members with language training who wish to sharpen their language skills.

The conversations will all take place in the Houston Harte University Center, Rms. 110-111, the dining area behind the Rams and Belles Espresso station. Anyone from the community, Goodfellow Air Force Base and ASU is welcome to participate.

The events won’t require a syllabus, materials, worksheets or drills, said Dr. Karen Cody, head of the ASU Modern Language Department.

“It’s an opportunity for those who have taken classes in the past to practice their oral skills, usually the most difficult aspect for language learners to master and especially challenging for learners of languages not spoken around here,” she said.

French conversationalists will meet Mondays from noon to 1 p.m., Russian discussions will take place Mondays from 12:30-1:30 p.m., German kaffee und kommunikation will be Thursdays from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and Spanish caf y conversacin Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

For more information on the conversation sessions, call the ASU Department of Modern Languages at 942-2245.
