ASU Student Group Sets Bake Sale for Haiti Relief

An Angelo State University student organization will conduct a “Hearts for Haiti” bake sale to raise funds for the earthquake-ravaged country on Monday and Tuesday Feb. 1-2 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

Sisters Who Achieve Goals (SWAG) will sell cookies will be two for $1 or 75 cents each, and cupcakes will sell for 75 cents each, both iced in the colors of the Haitian flag. The group will also take donations from people who don’t want the baked goods, but do want to contribute to the Haitian relief efforts. All proceeds will go to the local chapter of the Red Cross to be used for Haitian relief.

“We have two Haitian members,” said club spokeswoman Lauren Higgins, “so we thought it would really be important to do what we could.”

For more information on the bake sale, call Higgins at 812-5216 or send an e-mail to lhiggins@angelo.edu.
