ASU Sophomore Awarded Second National Scholarship
Angelo State University sophomore Brittany Lombrana has received a second national scholarship from the Mary J. Szczepanski “Never Give Up” Multiple Sclerosis Scholarship Foundation in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Lombrana, a Christoval High School graduate, won the inaugural national scholarship from the foundation in 2009. The foundation previously issued scholarships only in the Michigan region and only to incoming freshmen. Her 2010 scholarship is the first to be awarded to a student already in college, said Rick Szczepanski, foundation director.
The $1,234.68 scholarship will go toward Lombrana’s ASU tuition, and she will receive an accompanying engraved plaque in recognition of her volunteer work for the MS cause. She is one of only four awardees out of 30 applicants this year, including five other college students.
The national program, in its 10th year, raises funds and awareness for MS at U.S. high schools and colleges.
