Australian Musician to Perform at ASU Ram Jam
Australian singer-songwriter Anthony Snape will perform during the Angelo State University Alumni Association’s Ram Jam tailgate party on Family Day, Saturday, Sept. 25, at the ASU LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center, 1620 University Ave.
The concert, sponsored by the ASU Center for Student Involvement, will run from 1-2:30 p.m. and is open free to the public.
Often compared to Rob Thomas and Neil Finn, Snape’s energetic performances are shaped by years of school productions, local rock bands and a passion for music. He also worked as a session singer for radio and TV, and as a backup vocalist. One of his biggest credits is from co-writing and recording the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games’ theme song for the Australian National Radio Network.
Snape won numerous awards in his home country before breaking out in America with “Walking,” from his 2008 debut album featured on the NBC program “The Biggest Loser 5.” Later that year, he toured America, opening for guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel. He also appeared during the 2009 SXSW Music Festival in Austin.
