ASU Ring Ceremony Set for 84 Recipients
The Angelo State University Alumni Association will host 84 ASU ring recipients during its annual spring Ring Ceremony on Thursday, April 28, as a precursor to ASU’s May 7 commencement ceremonies.
The 7 p.m. ring ceremony will be held in the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center, 1620 University Ave. Special guest speaker will be Kyle Box, Class of 1981 and former ASU Alumni Association president. Other speakers will include Ronnie Willmann, Class of 1978 and current Alumni Association president; Dr. Joseph C. Rallo, ASU president; Dean McIntyre, Class of 1983 and Alumni Association vice-president; and Dr. Jeffrey Schonberg, associate professor of English.
The ASU Block and Bridal Club will present Dominic VII, the university’s Rambouillet ram mascot. After the ceremony, ring recipients can touch their rings to Dominic’s horns for strength or rub them through his wool for luck. Students wear the ASU ring with the school name facing them. When they receive their degrees, they will turn their rings around to symbolize that they are ready to face the world.
Also, on Friday, May 6, from 7:30-10:30 p.m., the Alumni Association will sponsor a graduation party for all ASU grads, their families and friends at the LeGrand Center. All alumni are encouraged to attend.
