ASU Small Business Center to Host Medical Workers’ Comp Seminar
Angelo State University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (TDI-DWC) educational seminar for medical office staff on Thursday, Aug. 25, at the West Texas Training Center, 3501 N. U.S. Highway 67.
The seminar, titled “Basic Workers’ Compensation for Medical Office Staff,” will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All medical office staff, including office managers and billing personnel, are encouraged to attend.
The featured speaker will be Regina Schwartz from TDI-DWC. Practical information will be presented about the rules and processes affecting health care delivery to injured employees, enabling them to effectively participate in the Texas Workers’ Compensation system.
Topics to be covered include how workers’ compensation works; identifying a workers’ compensation patient; the roles and responsibilities of health care providers; treatment guidelines; basic workers’ compensation processes; and dispute resolution.
Cost to attend the seminar is $45 per person and includes lunch. The registration deadline is Aug. 23. To register, go online to www.sbdc.angelo.edu or call the Angelo State SBDC at 325-942-2098. Payment will be collected at the door, and cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. The doors will open at 8:30 a.m.
Attendees can present their license number to earn six general insurance continuing education credits from the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation.
