ASU to Host Costa Rican Trombone Ensemble

The world-renowned Trombones of Costa Rica will perform in concert Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Angelo State University’s Eldon Black Recital Hall in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is open free to the public. The Trombones of Costa Rica are winners of the Costa Rican National Award of Music and the Special Prize in Music at Passau, Germany. They have toured extensively throughout the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe performing as guest artists with the U.S. Army Band, the National Symphony of Ecuador, the San Jose National Band and the University of Miami Wind Ensemble. The quartet has also performed and taught at the Brazilian and Latin American Trombone Festival, the International Trombone Festival and the Eastern Trombone Workshop.

The concert program will feature standard classical works and Costa Rican-style music along with commissioned works from composers throughout the world.
