Holcomb Honored for Distinguished Service by Alpha Chi

Dr. Phillip A. Holcomb, professor of English at Angelo State University, has been honored with a Distinguished Service Award from Alpha Chi, the national college honor scholarship society.

The new award, established to honor faculty sponsors, was given to 16 individuals from among the more than 300 active chapters on college and university campuses in 45 states and Puerto Rico.

Dr. Holcomb served as an official sponsor of the Texas Alpha Iota chapter at Angelo State from 1974 to 1994. He also served on the society's National Council 12 years as secretary-treasurer of Region I. Earlier he had served the region as vice president and president for two-year terms.
