New Registrar Named at Angelo State University
Mary A. Ragland, the registrar at Lake City Community College in Lake City, Fla., has been named registrar for Angelo State University, effective Feb. 25.
Dr. Donald V. Coers, ASU vice president for academic affairs, announced her appointment. Ragland will succeed Anita L. Loshbough, who resigned earlier this year to take the registrar's position at West Texas A&M University in Canyon.
Ragland has been with Lake City Community College since 1997. In her capacity as registrar, she supervised all aspects of the college's records and registration process, including transcripts, graduation, degree audits and class scheduling.
Prior to that she worked four years as assistant registrar at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. Her major responsibility there was in record and information management and the office's computer applications.
Her other job experience includes stints as a pension analyst/training coordinator for CIGNA Employee Benefits, Inc., in Hartford, Conn.; assistant manager for B.E.K. Industries in Springfield, Mass.; and program manager for PERS, Inc., also in Springfield, Mass.
She holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Massachusetts. She has done additional study in computer technology/education at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in liberal arts at Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, Mass., and in sociology at American International College, also in Springfield, Mass.
