College Daze Set Saturday for Prospective ASU Students

Angelo State University will host "College Daze" Saturday, Feb. 24, to give prospective ASU students and their parents a taste of college life at ASU and in San Angelo.

College Daze will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. in the Houston Harte University Center. At 10 a.m. in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center, ASU President James Hindman will welcome College Daze participants and their families. After the welcome, ASU faculty, staff and students will greet prospective students and provide information about academic programs and student life at ASU.

Campus tours given by student volunteers are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. and will conclude in the Food Service Center with a free lunch. At noon students and their families may attend the ASU Expo in the University Center for information on financial aid, Carr Academic Scholarships and campus activities. Representatives from each field of study at ASU as well as from various student organizations will be available to answer questions.

Information sessions will be presented at 1:30 p.m. for students interested in ASU pre-professional programs, including education, nursing, physical therapy, pre-law and pre-health professions. General information sessions will cover selecting a major and getting involved on campus. At 2 p.m. the ASU Planetarium in the Vincent Nursing-Physical Science Building will offer a free showing for interested College Daze participants.

"It is important for students to make an informed decision about the next step in their education," College Daze coordinator Katy Williams said. "College Daze is an opportunity for students to 'try on' ASU for a day and get firsthand knowledge about the university and what it can offer them."

The day's activities will conclude with ASU men's and women's basketball games against Texas A&M-Kingsville in the P.E. Building. College Daze participants, including guests, will be admitted free to the game with tickets provided at the Expo.
