Grant to ASU Supports Economic Education in Public Schools

The Texas Council on Economic Education has awarded Angelo State University's Center for Economic Education a grant for $9,500 to assist in enhancing the economic instruction in public schools.

Cheryl McGaughey, ASU instructor of finance and director of the Center for Economic Education, will administer the grant.

The Center for Economic Education, a unit of the ASU Accounting, Economics and Finance Department, provides assistance and training for West Texas public school teachers of economics.

McGaughey conducts area workshops in economics for area school districts to help raise the level of economic instruction in the public schools and increase the awareness of young people of economics. The center also provides grade-appropriate materials to teachers participating in the workshops. Both the workshops and the materials are provided free to the participants.

ASU's Center for Economic Education is affiliated with both the Texas Council on Economic Education and the National Council on Economic Education.
