Texas State University System Regents to Meet June 7-8

A routine agenda, including several construction items for Angelo State University, will be taken up by the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System (TSUS) during a regular meeting Thursday and Friday, June 7-8, in Beaumont.

The TSUS Board of Regents will meet at 9:15 a.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday in the Map Room of the John Gray Center on the Lamar University campus.

In construction-related business, the regents will consider authorizing work on new Intramural Fields to include parking lot modifications, parking lot lighting and site work at an estimated cost of $550,000 and on awarding a contract of $350,300 to Mark Burk Construction Co. of San Angelo for Athletic Field modifications.

Regents will review a recommendation to take bids for a scoreboard package for Stephens Arena in the new Junell Center under construction on campus. Total cost for the scoreboard package is not to exceed $400,000.

The board will also consider accepting renovations of both the West Texas Training Center at a total cost of $2.6 million and the Houston Harte University Center at a final cost of $10.7 million.

Also set for board consideration will be the renewal of a custodial services contract with Marcis & Associates, Inc., of Spring at an annual cost of $653,077; the addition of four courses in the Kinesiology Department to support the exercise science degree plan option; and the endorsement of cooperative agreements between the University and 37 West Texas school districts for student teaching programs.

Finally, the board will consider routine personnel items; budget adjustments; a report on spring enrollment figures; the Access and Equity 2000 Narrative document; and the acceptance of $637,469 in gifts to ASU.
