Concert to Benefit Womack Memorial Scholarship Fund at ASU
A concert to benefit the Tracy Womack Scholarship Fund in memory of the former Angelo State University student who died last spring will draw performances from members of community performing organizations and from ASU music students Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the First Presbyterian Church at 32 N. Irving in downtown San Angelo.
Dr. David Scott, interim head of ASU's Department of Art and Music, said Womack was an extremely talented actor, singer and pianist who graduated from ASU in 1994. He died last spring of a brain hemorrhage at the age of 36.
In addition to performances by his friends and colleagues, the concert will include selections by several performing groups with which Womack was involved. Those groups include the ASU Chamber Singers, the First Presbyterian Church Bell Choir, the Angelo Civic Theater and the ASU Opera-Music Theater Workshop. The concert is being jointly sponsored by Sigma Alpha Iota and Alpha Psi Omega.
Tickets may be purchased at the ASU Box Office in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, Nov. 6-13. The suggested donation for admission is $8 for adults and $2 for children and students. All proceeds will go toward the scholarship fund, which supports talented music and drama students at ASU.
