Texas State University System Regents to Meet at ASU
The Texas State University System (TSUS) Board of Regents will convene on the campus of Angelo State University Thursday and Friday, Nov. 29-30, for a fall meeting to conduct business for the nine institutions that are a part of TSUS.
During the regular fall meeting of the TSUS Board, regents will tour the Junell Center/Stephens Arena and the West Texas Disaster Recovery and Operations Center.
After the tours the board will go into executive session at 10 a.m. Thursday The public portion of the board meeting will begin at 1 p.m. in the Houston Harte University Theater. On Friday the board will resume business at 9 a.m. with adjournment scheduled for noon.
In ASU business the board will consider contracts to replace the roof on the West Texas Training Center and to renovate dressing rooms in the Center for Human Performance to provide classrooms and laboratory space for use by the Department of Physical Therapy. Additionally, the board will consider a motion authorizing ASU to negotiate and award a contract for drink vending services and to take bids and award a contract for snack and food vending services.
Regents will review ASU requests for $1,870,743 in budget adjustments, bringing the total ASU budget to $61,092,509 for the 2002 fiscal year as well as consider acceptance of gifts totaling $156,262, routine personnel items and the addition of six courses as well as changes in number or title for 12 other courses.
The TSUS board serves as the governing body for ASU and the other eight institutions making up the system. The other institutions are Lamar University, Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College-Orange, Lamar State College-Port Arthur, Sam Houston State University, Southwest Texas State University, Sul Ross State University and Sul Ross State University-Rio Grande College.
