The Director of the Porter Henderson Library at Angelo State University has been appointed to the statewide TexShare Advisory Board, which oversees policies and programs affecting the joint-lending policies of libraries throughout the State of Texas.
Dr. Maurice G. Fortin has been appointed to a three-year term on the 11-member board. His term will expire in 2004.
The TexShare Advisory Board consults the Texas State Library and Archives Commission on matters relating to the TexShare program. The 11-member board includes members representing the general public, four-year public universities, public community colleges, private academic institutions and public libraries. One member is appointed at large without a specified affiliation.
Fortin was appointed to fill one of the two slots representing four-year public universities.
The TexShare Consortium is an organization of statewide libraries that works to share and acquire as many library resources as possible at the lowest cost to the state and community.
The advisory board makes recommendations to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission on TexShare policies and programs, reviews TexShare operational budgets, initiates grant applications, advises on staff appointments and speaks on behalf of the consortium at professional and public meetings.
Fortin has been director of the Porter Henderson Library since 1996.
