Conference Scheduled for Area Math, Science Teachers Oct. 13 at ASU
Angelo State University will host the Second Annual Concho Valley Math & Science Conference Saturday, Oct. 13, for K-12 math and science teachers from throughout the area and around the state.
The day-long conference will focus on "The Hands-On Classroom" with workshops, demonstrations and presentations designed to give teachers the tools and skills to make math and science classrooms more active and interactive.
There will be separate tracks in both math and science for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 as well as presentations that cross over those disciplines. Presenters will include ASU faculty and area teachers. Conference participants can earn up to six hours of continuing education credit as well as learn lots of activities to take back to their classrooms.
Registration costs $20 and includes all handouts and materials as well as a luncheon with speaker Chris Comer, science director, Division of Curriculum and Professional Development, Texas Education Association.
Registration will begin with coffee and doughnuts at 8 a.m. in the Houston Harte University Center with the program starting at 8:30 a.m. The conference will run through 4:30 p.m.
