Wells Fargo Presents Business Scholarships to 3 ASU Students
Three students in the Angelo State University College of Business and Professional Studies were announced Thursday as 2002 scholarship recipients by Wells Fargo Bank of San Angelo.
The scholarship recipients are senior accounting major Susan Adaline Ripple of Winters, junior accounting major Brianne Rene Halfman of San Angelo and senior business administration with an international option major Anu Nadina "Nattie" Ramcharitar, also of San Angelo.
Ripple was awarded a $1,500 scholarship while Halfman and Ramcharitar received $500 scholarships. Wells Fargo of San Angelo President James Cummings made the presentations along with Kyla Thomas, recipient of last year's $1,500 Wells Fargo Scholarship.
The scholarships are presented annually in conjunction with the Wells Fargo Distinguished Lectureship, which this year featured Landel C. Hobbs, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Time Warner Cable.
Ripple was recognized for her academic excellence, her university activities and her community involvement. Her goal is to meet and exceed the requirements to qualify as a certified public accountant, then to get a job in the field. In addition to her numerous volunteer activities, she also works for a rural newspaper.
Halfman was honored for her exceptional academic performance as well as for her extracurricular activities. Her ambitions include ultimately earning a doctorate in accounting.
Ramcharitar was cited for her strong academic record as well as for holding leadership positions in several student organizations. She hopes to get her master's degree in business before starting her career.
