Comedian Louis Ramey, who has appeared on numerous television shows, will bring his zany outlook on life and the world to Club Café Comedy Night Wednesday, (Oct. 30) at Angelo State University.
Ramey will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont, on the ASU campus. The performance is open to the public. Admission is $1. The program is sponsored by ASU's University Center Program Council (UCPC).
The comedy bug bit Ramey while he was in college. On a dare from his friends, the Atlanta native took the stage to tell a few jokes at a local jazz club. The experience captivated him and he began to forge his path in comedy. He has since performed at colleges, comedy clubs, resorts, cruises and casino showrooms, ranging from Atlanta to Australia.
Ramey television appearances include ABC Daytime's "The View," Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," NBC's "It's Show Time at the Apollo," and CBS's "48 Hours" as well as "Grumps," "Comedy at Club 54" and "Breakfast TV" on Canadian TV. His standup comedy has been a hit at colleges and universities across the country.
He has performed as part of the New York Comedy Film Festival, produced by Saturday Night Live Producer Lorne Michael's company Burly Bear. Last year Ramey was chosen to appear in Aspen at the Fifth Annual U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. There he won the jury award as best new artist.
Additionally, Ramey has opened for several musical acts including Whitney Houston, Smokey Robinson, Isaac Hayes, Donna Summers and the Temptations.
