Community Response to ASU Physical Therapy Program Accreditation

"Angelo State University is a likely partner in our quest to enhance the quality of life in San Angelo, Texas. Foundation Trustees welcome the opportunity to support the College of Sciences in offering a vital new career choice in the Physical Therapy Master's Degree Program. The availability of locally trained, highly specialized physical therapists will prove an invaluable resource for our medical community. Students and patients in the Concho Valley will all benefit from our participation in this new Master's Degree program at Angelo State." George Alexander, Chairman, San Angelo Health Foundation

"Congratulations to Angelo State University and the Physical Therapy Program in the recent survey and accreditation process. Shannon Health System is proud of its role and help in the joint effort to bring this program to ASU and San Angelo. The financial contribution and the preceptor involvement of Shannon Medical Center associates and the Shannon Clinic PT Department are examples of local 'partnerships' that are win-win situations for this community. Shannon Health System and its components continue to be supportive of bringing more health professional training to this area as the industry faces manpower shortages. The PT department at ASU is an example of partnerships that help both contributors and the community. We look forward to a continued beneficial relationship with ASU." Dan Stultz, M.D., CEO, Shannon Health System

"The West Texas Rehabilitation Center is proud to be part of the Community partnership that assisted in bringing a PT program to ASU and San Angelo. A locally based program will allow healthcare institutions the opportunity to establish the relationships that will reduce recruitment expenses and provide a pool of highly qualified physical therapists to meet future needs. Congratulations to Dr. Kathy Cegles, the faculty and staff for developing a program that not only compares to any in the country but also provides students with a realistic insight into the healthcare industry." Woody Gilliland, President and CEO, West Texas Rehabilitation Center, Abilene, Texas
