ASU Offers Saturday German Classes for Elementary Students

Free German language classes will be offered for San Angelo-area children ages 8-11 on Saturdays during the spring semester at Angelo State University.

The classes will begin Saturday, Feb. 1, and continue through March 1. The classes will be taught by Dr. Elisabeth-Christine Muelsch, a member of the ASU Department of Modern Languages and a native of Germany.

The 90-minute classes will begin at 12:30 p.m. each Saturday in Room 121 of the Academic Building.

The free classes continue a program started by Dr. Otto Tetzlaff, retired head of the ASU Department of Modern Languages, to interest children in the study of foreign languages.

"Learning a foreign language becomes a necessity as the cultures of our world grow increasingly interdependent," Muelsch said.

The only requirement for the program is that parents deliver and pick up their children on time. For more information about this class, please contact Muelsch or the Department of Modern Languages at 942-2245, ext. 275.
