Participants Make Music at ASU Band Camp
More than 500 students, faculty and sponsors from 90-plus schools in Texas and New Mexico are participating in the 29th Annual Angelo State University Band Camp on campus this week.
The camp runs through Saturday, July 12, and provides a week of music, instruction and activities for participants.
Students will participate in bands, flags, drum majoring and twirling. In addition, students will have the opportunity to explore other areas of music by taking elective classes in subjects ranging from marching fundamentals to music theory.
The camp faculty consists of ASU music faculty and band directors and specialists from some of the most prominent music programs in Texas. The guest clinician for this year's camp is Richard Mayne. Dr. Mayne, professor of music and associate director of bands at the University of Northern Colorado, is a clinician noted throughout the country. He will conduct the Honors Band and the Director's Band.
