Business Courses Available in Russia to ASU Students Next Summer

Angelo State University's International Studies Program is accepting applications from both undergraduate and graduate students to participate in a study abroad program in Krasnodar, Russia, next summer to examine international business, technology and public policy issues.

Scheduled June 1-July 5, 2004, the program will allow students to take courses in business management and management information systems in Russia and at the same time examine both the impact and the implication for business of issues promoted by the Russian Federation. Any enrolled ASU student in any major can participate.

Participants in the program will spend a half month taking classes at Kuban State University (KSU). In addition to weekend excursions to the Black Sea, the students will spend the final two weeks of the session touring the cultural sites in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia's two major cities.

Founded in 1920, KSU is the scientific and educational center of Kuban and south Russia. The university is known for its fundamental research in the sciences and for its improvement in the Russian educational process. The university has a wide range of international scientific and educational affiliations with 50 universities in the United States, Germany, England, France, Japan, China, Korea, Greece and Turkey, among others. Financial aid, scholarships and federal assistance are available to qualifying students to subsidize the approximate $3,000 cost of the program. That cost includes airfare, lodging, one meal per day and all excursions but does not include extra spending money. Additionally, international internships through the university and Washington, D.C., internships through the U.S. Department of Commerce may be available to participating students.

The program will be directed by Dr. Steve Reames and Dr. David Torres of the Department Management and Marketing in ASU's School of Business and Professional Studies. Each professor is experienced in international travel and academic programs abroad.
