Grad School Association to Meet at ASU Sept. 18-19
More than 60 deans and staff member from throughout Texas will participate in the 52nd annual Association of Texas Graduate Schools meeting scheduled Thursday through Friday, Sept. 18-19, on the campus of Angelo State University.
Dr. Marshall Hill, assistant commissioner of the Higher Education Coordinating Board's Division of Universities and Health-Related Institutions, will deliver the keynote address on "Consequences of the 78th Texas Legislative Session and Other Topics Affecting Higher Education in Texas." His talk is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Thursday in Room 100 of the Houston Harte University Center.
Other sessions will cover budgets and tuition deregulation; graduate student orientation; and graduate admissions and financial aid. Special professional development sessions will be held for graduate school staff. The association is made up of members from graduate schools at private, master's-granting, and doctoral-granting institutions of higher education in Texas.
The conference banquet on Thursday evening will be held at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. The guest speaker will be prize-winning San Angelo western novelist Elmer Kelton. Banquet entertainment will be provided by ASU music faculty.
