Showcase to Highlight Continuing Studies Offerings for Fall

The Continuing Studies Fall Showcase Saturday, Aug. 28, at Sunset Mall is open to Concho Valley residents interested in meeting with instructors and learning about various courses that will be offered this fall through Angelo State University's Division of Continuing Studies.

The free showcase is scheduled 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Mall's Meeting Area, located two doors down from the Sears entrance to the mall concourse. The showcase will feature continuing studies instructors to discuss course content and goals. Displays will highlight various courses. Interested individuals will be able to register at the showcase for fall courses.

"We wanted to offer the public a fun way to visit with our faculty," said Deborah Palmer, director of the Division of Continuing Studies. "Participants often have questions about a class that cannot be answered in a printed paragraph description. Now they can meet the teacher and ask whatever questions they need to make a decision. They also can explore the wide range of classes we offer."

More than 80 classes are scheduled this fall in arts, communication/languages, computers, food preparation, health/wellness, hobbies and leisure, home and garden, money matters, music, recreation/sports/fitness and workforce development. In addition, the division offers a variety of special-interest courses such as defensive driving, powder puff mechanics, how to buy a horse, listening to your dreams and appreciating wine.

Three certificate programs the Effective Employee Supervisory Certificate Program, Non-Profit Management Certificate Program and Office Assistant Certificate Program also are available. Finally, programs designed for youth under 15 or individuals over 50 are available through Kids' Kollege and Senior Kollege. Classes range from one session to seven weeks.
