Four Staff Members Honored with ASU Employee Excellence Awards

Four staff members have been named recipients of the 2003 Employee Excellence Awards at Angelo State University

They are Jason Brake, a network services specialist with Information Technology; Martha Cox, manager of student accounts/bursar in Finance and Administration; Jackie Droll, coordinator of graduate admissions, Graduate School; and Charles "Chuck" Morton, operations assistant, Junell Center.

Four Employee Excellence Awards are given each spring semester in recognition of outstanding job performance during the preceding calendar year. The Employee Excellence Awards recognize non-teaching staff members whose job performance exceeds the customary standards or who exhibit outstanding skills or dedication while performing special work projects.

Each of the four recipients received a plaque and $300 honorarium.

Brake is responsible for maintaining the existing telephone and computer network infrastructure for ASU. He was nominated because of his extraordinary work to ensure that communication services were available to residents of Texan Hall when it opened last fall. He has been on the ASU staff since 1998.

In her position just over a year, Cox has successfully created a strong service orientation attitude in the Student Accounts Office by creating a team environment and managing her staff through coaching and by example. Her friendly demeanor has created a student-friendly office. Cox has worked at ASU since 1989.

Droll was recognized for her consistent work to improve graduate enrollment and retention. She re-designed the Graduate School Web site and developed an orientation CD on ASU's graduate programs. She was praised for her efficiency, enthusiasm, expertise and dedication to ASU. Droll has been with the university since 1993.

Morton is responsible for setting up for athletic contests and special events in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena. He was honored for his dedication and dependability in serving the university and the community. He is always helpful and willing to assist clients with any needs. He has been in his position three years.
