Concert Schedule Listed for AEP-Texas Distinguished Pianist

Concert pianist Frederick Moyer will offer seven public programs or performances during his month-long tenure as the AEP-Texas Distinguished Professor in Residence at Angelo State University this month and next.

During his stay Nov. 15 through Dec. 12, Moyer will give the following programs: Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m., piano recital featuring the works of Mozart, Debussy, Liszt and Rachmaninoff, Recital Hall, Carr Education-Fine Arts Building (Carr Recital Hall);

Nov. 22, 7:30 p.m., piano recital featuring the works of Anton Arensky, Carr Recital Hall;

Nov. 29, 7:30 p.m., artist presentation, "How to Make a Classical Music CD," Carr Recital Hall;

Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m., chamber music recital with ASU students, Carr Recital Hall;

Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m., piano recital featuring the works of Richard Strauss, Carr Recital Hall; and

Dec. 9, 7:30 p.m.; chamber music recital with ASU Music faculty;

Dec. 12, 2 p.m., San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts Chamber Music Recital, SAMFA.

In addition to his skill in the performing arts, Moyer is recognized as a superb teacher who combines major performances, master classes, workshops, school performances and other activities to enhance the talents of his students and to promote classical music within communities.

Moyer has produced 19 albums and recorded the works of more than 30 composers. He has appeared as piano soloist with the Cleveland, Philadelphia and Minnesota orchestras as well as the St. Louis, Dallas, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Houston, Netherlands Radio and Latvian, Iceland, symphony orchestras. He has also played with the Buffalo, Hong Kong and Japan philharmonic symphony orchestras, the National Symphony Orchestra of Brazil and the major orchestras of Australia.

AEP-Texas established the Distinguished Professor in Residence Program in 1997 to bring to ASU outstanding individuals in a variety of fields for extended interaction with students, faculty, staff and the public.
