The Angelo State University Wind Ensemble will present a fall concert "New Friends and Old" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at First Presbyterian Church, 32 N. Irving, in downtown San Angelo. Admission is free.

Highlights from the concert will include a guest appearance by internationally known trumpet soloist Vincent DiMartino and the world premiere of a piece by Rowell Rogers, an ASU alumnus and Denton resident. Also scheduled are works by John Philip Sousa, Samuel Barber, Frank Ticheli and Morten Lauridsen.

The concert, a celebration of both familiar and new music for wind instruments, will reflect the joy of making music.

The Wind Ensemble, the premiere ensemble in the ASU Band program, consists of 41 of the finest instrumentalists on campus. Students from several majors are represented, including elementary education, accounting, biology, journalism, computer science and music.
