ASU Fall Enrollment Shows Gains for 2004

Final enrollment figures for the fall semester totaled 6,137 at Angelo State University and marked a 1.5 percent increase over the fall 2003 figure of 6,043.

The official totals reflected a 2.5 percent increase in freshmen and a 6.2 increase in sophomores while slight decreases were reported among juniors, seniors and graduate student enrollments.

Comparisons by class for the fall semesters of 2004 and 2003 along with the percentage change were as follows: freshmen, 1,988, 1,939, 2.5 percent; sophomores, 1,178, 1,109, 6.2 percent; juniors, 1,051, 1,057, -0.6 percent; seniors, 1,342, 1,362, -1.5 percent; graduate students, 424, 425, -0.2; and unclassified students, 153, 151, 1.3 percent.

The ASU student body this fall is 55.8 percent female. The ethnic breakdown is 69.5 percent white; 21.9 percent Hispanic; 5.8 percent black; 1.3 percent Asian; 0.3 percent American Indian; and 1.2 percent non-resident.
