Concho Valley College Night Scheduled Nov. 1 at Angelo State
Angelo State University will host Concho Valley College Night Monday, Nov. 1, to give students from the area an opportunity to visit with representatives from some 100 colleges and universities from throughout Texas.
Activities will begin at 7 p.m. in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena at 2235 S. Jackson St. Representatives from the various institutions of higher education as well as from different branches of the U.S. military will be available to provide information and to answer specific questions from high school students and their parents.
A financial aid/college planning workshop is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Honors Lounge of the Junell Center. Featured speakers will be Jim Glossbrenner, high school relations coordinator for the Panhandle Plains Student Loan Association, and Lyn B. Wheeler, director of student financial services at ASU. They will discuss financial aid options open to students and various factors that should be considered in planning a college career.
The purpose of the evening is to give Concho Valley area high school sophomores, juniors and seniors an opportunity to visit with representatives from the various schools regarding college admission, academic programs, costs, housing scholarships and other topics. The evening is designed to allow students and their parents to contact a maximum number of Texas institutions of higher learning at a minimum of time and effort. The session also provides a way for students to narrow their collegiate options or to explore other educational possibilities.
This will mark the tenth year that ASU has hosted the event for the Concho Valley. Students seeking additional information or interested in attending the Concho Valley College Night may contact the ASU Office of Admissions at 942-2041, Ext. 230, or their high school counselors for more information.
