ASU Honorary Society Receives National Recognition
Angelo State University's chapter of Alpha Chi, the national college honor scholarship society, has been named a Star Chapter for the previous academic year.
About 10 percent of the nation's more than 300 Alpha Chi chapters receive the designation annually. The awards are based upon a chapter's activities in supporting and promoting the scholastic goals of the organization.
Criteria include membership induction, student and sponsor participation in regional and national conventions, student presentations at those meetings and promotion of on-campus activities at the university.
Dr. David Bixler of physics, Dr. Karl Havlak of mathematics, Dr. Ann Bullion-Mears of education, Dr. Thomas Bankston of accounting, economics and finance, and Dr. June Smith of communication, drama and journalism are the faculty sponsors of the ASU chapter.
