Foreign Service Officer to Examine International Business
Foreign Service Officer Margaret Hanson-Muse will bring her expertise in Latin American business to Angelo State University's eighth annual International Business Symposium when she speaks on "International Trade in the Americas" Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Hanson-Muse, a senior commercial officer with the U.S. Department of Commerce in Peru, will speak at 9:30 a.m. in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center in the Houston Harte University Center. A reception will follow at 11 a.m. in the University Center Tower Lobby.
Since the 34 democratically elected heads of state in the Western Hemisphere agreed to a long-term plan to create the Free Trade Area of the Americas, the opportunities for free movement of capital and goods through the Americas have grown tremendously.
The symposium will address the prospects for U.S. exporters in Central and South America, the existing trade relationship between the United States and Central and South America, and the myths about doing business in the Americas.
