Law Enforcement Personnel to Converge on ASU for Gang Conference
The Angelo State University Police Department will co-sponsor the West Texas Regional Gang Course to be held Tuesday, Oct. 18, through Thursday, Oct. 20, in the C.J. Davidson Conference Room in the Houston Harte University Center of Angelo State University.
The Office of the Attorney General, the San Angelo Police Department, the Tom Green County District Attorney's Office and the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office also will sponsor the event, which aims to offer current and comprehensive information on street and prison gangs specific to West Texas.
Attendance at the course will be limited to law enforcement, prosecutors, and criminal and juvenile justice personnel involved in the investigation and prosecution of gangs.
Topics covered will include the Aryan Circle; Barrio Azteca; criminal interdiction; drug cartels, Los Zetas, violence and gangs; extremist and hate groups; gang database management; gang prosecutions; gang resource systems; gang suppression; a legislative update; a local gang overview; the Mexican Mafia; outlaw motorcycle gangs; Raza Unida; a RICO case overview; and Tangos.
