Illusionists The Spencers to Appear – and Disappear – Oct. 6
Kevin and Cindy Spencer, better known as The Spencers, will bring their magical mix of drama and illusion to the San Angelo City Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in a show presented by Angelo State University's University Center Program Council Arts Committee.
The Spencers, who take their show The Spencers: Theatre of Illusion on the road 40 weeks a year in the United States and abroad, have drawn comparisons to the late Doug Henning as well as David Copperfield.
The Spencers have performed on several television programs, including Fox Family Channel's Magic on Edge. They have toured college campuses for more than a decade, and have been named Best Performing Arts Event and were twice named Campus Entertainers of the Year. Other awards include Best Touring Production, Best Special Event and Best Major Performance.
In addition to touring with their show, the Spencers founded "The Healing of Magic" in 1984. This program takes them to hospitals and rehabilitation centers to teach simple magic tricks to victims of stroke, spinal cord injuries, head injuries, learning disabilities and other conditions.
The Spencers say their show is "audience-interactive, allowing the audience to experience a wide range of emotions – comedy, romance, drama and suspense." The show at the City Auditorium is open to the public. Tickets are $5 for ASU students, $8 for ASU faculty/staff and children 12 and younger, and $10 for the general public.
Tickets are on sale in the Center for Student Involvement, Room 001 on the Garden Level of the Houston Harte University Center, and will be available at the door the day of the show.
