Name Tag Policy
The new design for university faculty/staff name badges utilizing the new logo and two colors is now available from Angelo Awards. The new design will replace ALL current name tags, effective Sept. 1, 2007. Previous name tags with the Flaming A or the University Seal should not be used.
Name tags should follow these guidelines to ensure a uniform style and look:
- The text on name badges will be upper and lower case for names and departments.
- Departments may use "Department of" in front of their name, although it is not required and is best avoided on departments with long names.
- To save space an ampersand should be used in place of "and" in departmental names.
- No courtesy titles, including Mr., Mrs., Ms. and Dr., are allowed.
- Faculty and administrators may list a terminal degree or their highest graduate degree after their names.
- Clinical faculty may use their highest degree and licensure and/or certification for identification in clinical settings at off-campus medical facilities.
- Because of space limitations, one certification and/or licensure may be used.
- Job titles may be used, space permitting on larger format ID badges.
- Staff members may list a graduate degree after their names.
- Two badge sizes (1" x 3" and 1.5" x 3.25") are available in the new name tag.
Styles are as follows:
- 1" x 3" with one name line and one title line. Examples:
- 1.5" x 3.25" with multiple name or title lines, not to exceed four lines Examples:

Three options are provided for the fastener: pin fastener, magnetic fastener and pocket slide.
Costs are as follows:- 1x3 with pin fastener: $5.50 each
- 1x3 with magnetic fastener: $7.10 each
- 1x3 with pocket slide: $7.90 each
- 1.5x3.25 with pin fastener: $6.10 each
- 1.5x3.25 with magnetic fastener: $7.70 each
- 1.5x3.25 with pocket slide: $8.50 each
The name badges must be purchased through a university purchase order with appropriate name and title information included on the P.O. Turnaround time should be an estimated three days once the P.O. is received. In emergencies, Angelo Awards can provide while-you-wait service, provided you bring the P.O. with you.
New faculty name badges will continue to be ordered by the Office of Academic and Student Affairs as per previous policy. Replacement name badges will need to be ordered by the departments as per above instructions.
