News Releases

News releases are the primary vehicle for informing the public, through the media, of upcoming events, achievements or activities of the university community. The goal of the news release is not only to inform the public, but also to provide the information in a format that conforms to established media styles. In essence, our office attempts to serve not only the campus and the public, but also the news media.

For more information on requesting or submitting an idea for a news release, please see our Need a News Release page.

University publications fulfill a variety of purposes, ranging from recruiting to promotion and from information to fundraising. Generally, a publication can be tailored to suit any need or to fit any budget. The keys to developing a well-tailored publication are to define your goal (recruiting students, promoting an event, etc.) and to identify the audience, whether it is the campus community or the general public. Understanding those two keys will help you—and us—implement a suitable strategy for design, visuals and text that best meet your needs on a budget you can live with.

For more information on requesting a publication, please see our Need a Publication page.

We offer a variety of photographic services for the campus community. In addition to our university photographer, we also occasionally use local commercial photographers for some specialty and time-intensive projects. The use of these commercial photographers is also an option for departments, though the cost will be significantly higher. Our staff will work with you to accommodate your photographic needs in as timely and economical manner as possible.

For more information on requesting photography services, please see our Need a Photograph page.
