IRS Tax & 1098T Information

Form 1098-T Tuition Statements for the tax year 2011 will be mailed by January 31, 2012.

Every ASU student may not meet the IRS requirements to receive a form. Please follow the instructions above to access your student Tax Notification in RamPort to determine if you have qualified to receive a form for the current tax year.

Angelo State University has contracted with ACS, Inc. to provide qualifying students a Form 1098-T Tuition Statement, financial addendum, and informational brochure for the calendar tax year just ended. This packet of information is mailed after the tax year to each qualifying student at their permanent address on record with the Office of the Registrar. ACS, Inc. also makes the form available online at www.1098T.com.

Please be advised that Angelo State University cannot give legal, tax, or accounting advice or determine if students qualify for a tax credit or deduction. Please consult a tax professional, the IRS at (800) 829-1040, or the IRS Publication 970 Tax Benefits for Education.

Please note Box 2 on the Form 1098-T shows the total amounts BILLED for qualified tuition and fees less any related reductions in charges for the calendar year. If Box 7 on the form is checked, the amount in Box 2 includes amounts for an academic period beginning January - March, after the tax year. See Publication 970 for guidance on how to report these amounts.

The Form 1098-T is not a receipt. Angelo State University does not report payments received to the IRS. Payment information for the calendar tax year is available in the student’s Tax Notification in RamPort or from the student’s  personal financial records.
