Student Organizations - Special Interest
African Student Association
Purpose: to unify the African students at ASU; to educate students about different cultures and countries; to raise funds for the needy in Africa; to provide community service to our community; to create a more comfortable environment for the African student body; to increase popularity of ASU with African students overseas; and, to represent ASU is a postive way.
Air Force ROTC
Purpose: to produce leaders for the Air Force and build better citizens for America; to create and support designated ROTC and ASU activities and functions; to present a professional and responsible attitude and appearance in or out of ROTC activities.
Alpha Phi Omega
Purpose: assemble college men and women in a national service fraternity in fellowship of the principles of the Boy Scouts of America as embodied in its Scout Oath and Law; to develop leadership, promote friendship, and provide service to humanity; and to further the freedom that is our national, educational, and intellectual heritage.
Alpha Social Study Club
Purpose: to support the Robert G. Carr squadron of the Arnold Air Society and the Air Force Association; to become more productive citizens; to make others aware of our organization and our activities; and, to serve the community.
Animeyhem
Purpose: to introduce the unique art styles of Japanese animation ("Anime") to a wider audience within the university setting; to discuss various forms of Anime and the art forms they represent and by which they are influenced; discuss and study ways in which Anime and Asian culture are intertwined; and, to provide a comfortable atmosphere to meet peers and stimulate creativity.
Association of Mexican-American Students
Purpose: to assist Mexican-American students in adjusting to the academic and social aspects of college life; to emphasize the study and appreciation of Mexican-American contributions to American society; to encourage student involvement and participation in campus activities; to encourage group unity among Mexican-American students; and to encourage participation in AMAS among all other ASU students.
Bass Anglers at Angelo State University
Purpose: to provide a social environment for students interested in tournament bass fishing; to hold tournaments for the organization members; to conduct meetings to discuss club news; and, to praticipate in intercollegiate bass tournaments.
Black Organization Striving for Success
Purpose: to provide opportunities for social and cultural exchange among black students and others in the university and the surrounding community; and, to provide a support base for the concerns of the black students at ASU.
Block and Bridle Club
Purpose: to promote a higher scholastic standing among the students of animal agriculture; to bring about a closer relationship among the men and women pursuing some phase of animal agriculture as a profession; and to promote all phases of animal agriculture by the students of ASU.
Clay Club
Purpose: to stimulate, promote, and improve ceramic education and the ceramic arts; to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, vital information and exciting exhibitions; to facilitate communication within the diverse areas of ceramic arts; and, to foster discussion and dialogue concerning ceramic arts and thus invite scholarship of the broadest possible spectrum, including subjects of historical, technical and philosophical value.
College Republicans
Purpose: to encourage student involvement in politics; to increase student awareness of the political process; and, to assist in the election of Republican candidates to local, state and national offices.
Ducks Unlimited
Purpose: to raise money for Ducks Unlimited, Inc. for North American Conservation efforts and to engage in local waterfowl conservation efforts.
Epsilon Sigma Alpha
Purpose: to unite students in order to pursue service to the community and further develop themselves. ESA hopes to aid those less fortunate and offer a sense of belonging and support to its members. The primary goal of ESA collegiate is to bring more of a community service oriented group to ASU.
Honors Student Association
Purpose: to provide honors students with a platform for meeting and discussing ideas, as well as to provide them with the chance to be associated with those who share the same academic interests.
International Students' Association
Purpose: to assist incoming international students in adapting to college life in the U.S.; to provide opportunities for social and cultural exchange among foreign students and with others in the university and the surrounding community; and, to provide a support base and lobbying group for the concerns of international students.
Keeping Memories Alive
Purpose: to discuss and share ideas of the most effective methods of scrap-booking; provide and stimulate leadership among all persons engaged in scrap-booking; maintain and improve professional standards of scrap-booking; serve as a campus organization for information pertinent to students, faculty, and staff interested in scrap-booking; stimulate creative and experimental techniques for scrap-booking; and, to enhance the role of scrap-booking for the campus community.
Martial Arts Club
Purpose: to discuss and study the multiple different aspects of all martial arts styles and the cultures that these styles have evolved from; provide alternatives to conflict resolution through non-violent means; promote self-confidence and motivation; and, to provide relief from academic stress through proper exercise and relaxation.
Non-Traditional Student Association
Purpose: to create opportunities for nontraditional students to meet and socialize with their peers; to network, problem-solve, and provide mutual support and encouragement; to enhance their adjustment and success as students; to promote understanding of issues related to nontraditional students' concerns, strengths, and needs on campus; and, to serve as a clearinghouse for information pertinent to nontraditional students attending ASU.
Philosophy Club at ASU
Purpose: to provide its members with a setting in which they can discuss philosophical topics and increase their knowledge in a reasonable and enjoyable way.
Ramdiculous
Purpose: to provide the student body of ASU with an alternative news source; to offer students an opportunity to gain factual, real-life experience in a semi-professional setting; and, to stimulate the creativity and imagination of the student body.
Residence Hall Association
Purpose: to enhance residential hall life by keeping university administrators informed about and with residence life; and to promote residence interaction through educational, social, cultural, and recreational programming.
Screeners
Purpose: to promote, discuss, and encourage participation of ASU students in the pursuit of knowledge through domestic and foreign film and the provision of companionship and support in the shared interest of the visual arts.
Silver Wings
Purpose: in order to promote a more perfect union among college men, we will aid in and insist upon personal progress of our members. We also will further brotherly love within the club and will promote the discountenance of evil. We will destroy all prejudices and preserve the sancity of the home, the personification of virtue, and the chastity of women.
Sisters Who Achieve Goals
Purpose: to provide and simulate leadership among young women; to advocate unity through community service; to improve and maintain academic excellence; and, to promote and support other culturally affiliated organizations.
Sisters with a Purpose
Purpose: to provide an opportunity for minority females to engage in social organization; to provide community service to African Americans in San Angelo and the surrounding area; and, to provide educational opportunities to the campus through lectures and seminars on health, economics, finance and the arts.
Video Game Association
Purpose: to engage in an entertaining activity for the sole purpose of pleasure; to establish friendships with peers that share a common interest; to learn about the various aspects of gaming and its mechanics; and, to build a strong will to succeed in life.
Young Democrats
Purpose: to support and promote the ideals of the National Democratic Party, recognizing the humanitarian concern for the equal rights and opportunities of all people as a primary concern of government.
